About Kauai

The island of Kauai is the northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain of islands. It is by far the greenest, most lush island with some of the most stunning beaches, hikes and views. It is no wonder movies like Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hobbes and Shaw, and most recently: Jungle Cruise a Disney film.

Why Kauai?

Kauai is often referred to as the “Garden Island” because it is the greenest and most lush of the Hawaiian Islands. This jungle-like paradise offers beach fun, mountain adventures and rich culture. A trip to Kauai offers everything you ever wanted from a retreat. If you’re looking for excitement – consider a helicopter tour, mountain tubing, ATV tours or zip lining. If you desire relaxation – calm your mind & body with a spa experience, golf, shop, sunbathe on a breathtaking beach – or indulge in a Sunset Cruise full of delicious cuisine and romantic views..

North Side – Kauai, HI

The island of Kauai is the northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain of islands. It is by far the greenest, most lush island with some of the most stunning beaches, hikes and views. It is no wonder movies like Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hobbes and Shaw, and most recently: Jungle Cruise a Disney film.

In a single day you could hike to the “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific” Waimea Canyon and cruise the Na Pali Coast on a sunset tour. In that single day you would see two of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. The meaning of Na Pali is “the cliffs” in Hawaiian language, and you will see why when you experience the colorful cliff sides and waterfalls from your boat, helicopter or hiking tour. After your tour you will need to visit Hanalei Town. There is great food, vendors and of course fabulous beaches including Kee Beach and Lumahai Beach.

If you want to make the trip you can visit the very Northern point and see the Daniel K Inouye Kilauea Lighthouse. The views are spectacular and you will get some great photos and see some wonderful wildlife.

South Side – Kauai, HI

One of Kauai’s greatest gems Po’ipu Beach sits near The Villas at Po’ipu Kai on the sunny Southside of the Island. This beach is refuge to the Po’iPu Beach Hawaiian Monk Seals and turtles. This beach was voted, “America’s Best Beach”. The snorkeling from this beach is unmatched and the soft sandy beaches will keep you coming back for daily visits. Next to Po’ipu Beach is Brenneke’s Beach that provides great boogie boarding and surfing fun for the whole family. If you are looking for a quick day trip Spouting Horn is a great activity for the entire family.

Located in the Koloa district right near Po’ipu you will find interesting lava formations that over time have eroded holes in them from crashing waves creating water spouts sometimes shooting as high as 30 feet in the air. There is also a daily farmers market where locals will sell their crafts available for purchase. If you still have energy after your trip you can visit The Old Koloa Town full of charming shops and dining options. If you are looking for more adventurous options you can rent “mud buggies” and ATV through the old sugar plantation and see some of the spots that they filmed Jurassic Park.

West Side – Kauai, HI

If you take roughly an hour drive from Lihue you will find the breathtaking “Coconut Coast” and neighboring Kokee State Park. The West Side of Kauai is home to the Waimea Canyon.

One of the highlights of your visit will be overlooking the, “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”. Almost 4,000 feet of red rock canyon topped with lush green vegetation the Waimea Canyon is truly spectacular and will truly take your breath away. There are two small towns on the West Side of the Island, Waimea and Hanapepe and both warrant a short visit. In 1778, Captain James Cook landed in Hawaii in Waimea Bay. You can visit a statue of James Cook today.

East Side – Kauai, HI

Also referred to as the “Royal Coconut Coast”, the East Side of the Island features wonderful beaches, waterfalls and the majestic Wailua River.

Visiting Wailua State Park you can paddleboard, kayak or river boat up to the Secret falls hike. You can also take a boat ride up to the Fern Grotto. Just outside of the mouth of the river the vibrant town of Kapaa is a great place to rent bikes and ride the coconut coast and even stop for lunch or dinner at a local food truck or restaurant. If you just want to have a beach day make sure to visit Lydgate Beach Park in Wailua.
